There are two committee members — Charles Kandemiiri (committee member legal) and Everisto Rukasha (committee member organising).

All the executive members work for Harare City Council.

According to minutes of the City of Harare’s finance and development committee, tabled before a full council on November 30, concerns have been raised over the club’s executive members, who are spending more time attending to football matters at the expense of their core business in council.

“Under matters for which the chairperson’s consent is obtained, the committee suggested for a review of the Harare City Football Club executive to ensure it was community-managed rather than the current set up, where the executive comprised of senior council officials in grade 4,” part of the minutes reads.

“The committee expressed concern that whenever the above-mentioned members of the executive were away on sporting assignments, council work would be prejudiced due to the absence of these key senior officials, hence, the suggestion for the review mentioned above. The committee referred the matter to the information and publicity to consider the matter.”

Masepe’s executive has been in charge of the day-to-day running of the club since May last year, after taking over from the Leslie Gwindi-led administration.

The Sunshine Boys performed below expectations in the league this year, finishing seventh on the log table.

However, they will have consolation of participating in the Caf Confederation next season after winning the Chibuku Super Cup.

They will begin their campaign in the African safari with a preliminary tie against AS Adema of Madagascar in Harare on the weekend of February 12 to 14, before the return leg in Antananarivo two weeks later.

Should they pass the AS Adema test, as hugely expected, City face a potentially tougher proposition in Zanaco of Zambia, who got a bye in the preliminary round.
