The hip-hop group has released a 12-track debut album titled The Grind One.

The two-member group, comprising Tapiwa Matarise and Brendon Mzinge, has the potential to ride the waves in music as they have already made a mark in the city’s leisure spots.

Matarise – also known as Six Oh – said their music is set to quench the thirst of the city of Kings.

“We want the hip-hop music industry in Bulawayo to grow and be recognised just like in Harare and other cities,” he said.

He said the album demonstrates the hard work and dedication poured into their music, in an era where upstarts were rushing to release half-baked work onto the market.

“The Grind One is our debut album, it describes the work and effort we put in it, actually it describes us. The grinding we are talking about is hustling,” he said.

Six Oh said he hopes for their album to go silver with the hit tracks Ain’t Done, Appreciate, Ikasi, Love of Pepper and Stolen Mind.

“This album is going to be a hit,” the ambitious young artiste said in an interview.

Apart from recording the first album, the group launched their clothing label – Grind Hood.

“Apart from launching an album on December 5, we managed to launch a clothing line. So far, a lot of people have expressed interest in both the album and the clothing line.

“We see ourselves having influence to the youths by keeping it real and original. The competition in the industry is manageable, it is just a matter of being unique to the art.”

The album was composed by Grind Hood and recorded at Hustle X.L studios in Cowdray Park by Ditux Mkay. The album also features Teeko, Ozzbit, Nemo Da Nemesis and Thain.

The upcoming hip-hop duo has lined up shows in the city’s leisure spot joints this festive season.
