The Patriot All-America, a renowned tournament that features the top 84 collegiate golfers in the US, is held in honor of America’s military and acknowledging their sacrifices.

Crocker, who made his debut at the tournament last year, received another invite in the star-studded field, after yet another impressive season for the University of Southern California.

The US Amateur Championship semifinalist and Pacific Conference Freshman of the Year recently moved one place on the World Amateur Golf Rankings this week to career high position 29.

Sean Crocker defeated Robby Shelton in 20 holes during the round of 16 at the U

“Each American golfer will carry a commemorative red, white and blue PING golf bag bearing the name, rank and service of a fallen soldier from the community in which they live or attend school, while the special International players will carry white bags with their heroes honored,” said Ed Gowan, executive director of the Arizona Golf Association.

According to reports from the US, Crocker will play in honour of US army sergeant 1st Class John W Marshall.

Marshall was killed when he was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade during an ambush in Baghdad, while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is survived by a wife and three children.

The full field of 84 for All-America Invitational is highlighted by more than 45 golfers from Division I schools in the US.

Highlighting the field is last year’s champion, Kyle Kochevar, a University of Virginia senior playing in The Patriot for the fourth consecutive year.

Last year, Kochevar finished the tournament at 1-under 209 on the Gold Course and outlasted University of Arizona golfer, George Cunningham, in a two-hole playoff to secure the victory.
