The Gweru-based top-flight league side is also believed to be interested in stripping the relegated Flame Lily of Gift Phiri.

Coach John Nyikadzino said it was disappointing that next season, there would be no Gweru derby after the relegation of WhaWha.

“I know that all the fellow service man teams were relegated except us, but that scenario did not delight us at all,” Nyikadzino said.

“Their absence means there is no army derby or city derby between us and WhaWha. Our supporters loved those matches and it’s unfortunate there is no more derby to talk about for us.” He said his side had not made any manoeuvres to take advantage of the relegated service teams, Flame Lily, WhaWha and Buffaloes and lure their players.

“There are a lot of good players from those sides, but to be honest, there is none in particular we are targeting. People always speculate during off-season, but the truth is that we are yet to make a move to take players from our fellow service guys,” Nyikadzino said.

“We will make reinforcements to our team, though the changes will be very few. We have so many players on loan and some of them will be given a chance to prove themselves.”

Chapungu had a commendable 2015 season where they stayed clear of the danger zone throughout the season, narrowly missing out on a top-half finish.

They will be looking to build on that in the 2016 season and achieve more.
