Breaking:Oscar Pistorius verdict changed to murder

Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murder after a South African appeals court overturned an earlier manslaughter verdict.

He killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013 after shooting her four times through a locked toilet door.

He is currently under house arrest after spending one year of his original five-year sentence in jail.

Pistorius will now have to return to court to be re-sentenced, for murder.

It was earlier incorrectly reported that the court had ruled the manslaughter verdict would remain.

South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that the lower court did not correctly apply the rule of dolus eventualis – whether Pistorius knew that a death would be a likely result of his actions.

Reading the ruling reached by a panel of judges, Justice Lorimer Leach said that having armed himself with a high-calibre weapon, Pistorius must have foreseen that whoever was behind the door might die.

Pistorius’ lawyer argued that he believed that there was an intruder in the house but the judge said that the identity of the person behind the door was irrelevant.

  1. Aiwa…. Izvi zvinofadza veduwe. Mhondi isinamakumbo iyi yanga yanetsa. Very good. Judge we chibhoyi kutya muvheti. Manje uyu wanhasi anyatsogona.

  2. Sure ,this guy was intent to kill, Judge Msipa erred last year by sentencing him to just 5 yrs otherwise why would she make him do anger management classes ? but i think killed in a fit of rage and should have been charged with 2nd degree murder.

  3. i think even a student of law wld have known that judge masipa judgment was flawed …

but sadly, there are no winners here … either the steenkamp family or the pistorius family. an orginally poor judgment has now turned oscar into a ‘victim’ of law himself (no man shld have to go through this roller-coaster of emotions — all within a narrow window of time — and be treated as anything other than a victim of law themselves.

except of course, in zimbabwe … it wldnt matter unless u were zany or zany-connected!!

  4. Anyone who uses a high calibre weapon indoors has only one intention namely, KILLING. Dai vakamuunza kudare kwangu ndingadai ndakapedza naye karekare.

  5. No doubt he did it put him in jail and move on he’s no special than anyone else. If you recall last time he was in jail he was in his own little cell in the infirmary. Don’t know what to say different country different laws.
