The Volt Night Club, Harare

Jamaican reggae and dancehall artiste I-Octane’s fans will be in for a treat tonight as they mix and mingle with the musician at a welcome party at The Volt Night Club, located at number 30 Samora Machel Avenue and Sixth Street, in the capital, previously Book Café.

The musician arrived on Thursday ahead of his maiden one-off show in Zimbabwe tomorrow at City Sports Centre, courtesy of Cutting Edge Productions and Chipaz Promotions.

Tonight’s welcome party has been organised by Platinum Entertainment. Big Dollar, Skattah, Phatman and Young Fresh will provide entertainment at the event.

Amphi Theatre, Bulawayo

Bulawayo’s new face in the music industry, Mzobanzi Mlauzi, also known as Mzoe 7, will have his debut performance with Harare’s celebrated musician Mukudzei Mukombe, popularly as Jah Prayzah, tomorrow at the Bulawayo Amphi Theatre.

Mzoe 7 has exhibited exceptional music prowess locally, distinguishing himself with his unique versatility that has seen him excelling during the early stages of his career.

His hit-song Kwasa-Kwasa dominated the national airwaves, setting tongues wagging on the local music scene, about a seemingly music upstart seen dominating the industry in the not-so-distant future and at a tender age.

But despite his noteworthy exploits, he has maintained a low profile uncharacteristic of most upcoming and ambitious green-horns in the arts and entertainment industry through his music.

Mzoe 7’s music, which is a fusion of azonto, hip-hop, jazz and Afro-beat, has made him share the stage with South Africa’s Casper Nyovest, Winky D, Black Motion and Djembe Monks, among others.

Also to perform at the show are Afro-jazz musician Jean Masters and hip-hop icon Cal Vin and Guluva 7, while rocking it on the decks will be DJ Nosh, Tonny, Zola, Sweeto and Mark Hustler.

Zimbabwe College of Music, Harare

All is set for this year’s edition of Children’s Performing Arts Workshop (Chipawo)’s annual Christmas Show slated tomorrow at the Zimbabwe College of Music in the capital.

The fun-filled day will be marked by a number of performances by 200 children from various Chipawo centres that include Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare and Chiredzi, sharing what they have been doing throughout the year.

This year, the children from Chipawo will present the Miracle Christmas, a play about Kushinga, a village boy who now resides in Canada and refusing to go back at his rural home because of a new life which is better than the village one.

The first play of the day will be staged at 1pm, while the second and final one will be at 6pm.

Bar Rouge, Harare

Veterans of Zimbabwe’s jazz scene, Jabavu Drive, tonight serenade patrons at Bar Rouge, located at Longcheng Plaza Mall in the capital.

Tomorrow, the joint hosts Ammara Brown, the daughter to the late musician Andy Brown. Ammara has a record of mesmerising guest with her energetic performance, that has seen her winning hearts of many.

Richwood Sports Bar, Harare

Zora musician Leonard Zhakata and his Zimbabwe All Stars band tomorrow entertains revellers at Richwood Sports Club in Mabelreign.

The Mugove hit-maker will be supported by Potipher Mopo, the eldest son of legendary musician Mike of the Nherera Ndimambo fame, who took over his father’s band, Zinawa. On Sunday, the joint host dancers Flip Floppers and Desert Fox.

On the same day, Zhakata will share the stage with musician Jah Prayzah and his Third Generation Band alongside urban groover Carlos Green in Highfield at Mushandira Pamwe Hotel. Aquatic Complex, Chitungwiza

Dancehall couple Soul Jah Love and Bounty Lisa tonight will share the stage with sungura godfather Alick Macheso at the Zimdancehall Meets Sungura gig slated for Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza.

Part of the line-up also includes other dancehall chanters, Kinnah and Hwindi President, alongside sungura musician Peter Moyo and his Utakataka Express.

Usual Place, Jazz Bar, Cresta Jameson Hotel, Harare

Veteran Afro-jazz musician Bob Nyabinde and his Savanna Drive band tonight entertains patrons at The Usual Place, Jazz Bar, Cresta Jameson Hotel in the capital at a show dubbed T-shirt Friday.

The Headmaster, as Nyabinde is affectionately known on the showbiz scene, has many hit songs to his credit such as Chabuda Hapana and Ndiratidze, among others, that have famed him as one of the top jazz musicians in the country.

Roof Top, New Ambassador Hotel, Harare

Reggae fans will be in for a treat tomorrow as one of the oldest local reggae bands in the country fronted by Emmanuel “Mannex” Motsi and his Transit Crew entertains patrons at Roof Top, New Ambassador Hotel located at number 88 Nkwame Nkurumah Ave (between 2nd and 4th) in the capital. The new venue has become home for artistes cutting across drama, poetry, art and music operating under the name Pop-Up Book Café.

Sphinx Oasis Cresta Hotel, Harare

United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean contemporary gospel musician, Tu Short, who is back home after 12 years to promote his latest four-track album Maiwe, tonight entertains patrons at Sphinx Oasis Cresta Hotel, situated along Nelson Mandela in the capital.

At the gig, Tu Short, born Lamont Chitepo, will be supported by local artistes, among them Automan, Xpatriot, Nina Grande, ExQ, C Bryan and Lorraine.

City Sports Bar, Harare

Sungura musician Peter Moyo and his Utakataka Express tomorrow performs at City Sports Bar along Kaguvi Street in the capital. Young Ingwe, as he is known to his fans, will share the stage with popular dancer Zoey Sifelani and her Red Angels, Fearless, Expandables, Apama, Unique and Lady Storm.

On Sunday, he travels to Hwedza for a performance at Wedza Spaceman Night Club, supported by Afro-jazz sensation Jean Masters.

Pariah State Avondale, Harare

Pariah State Avondale tomorrow hosts United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean DJ, MC-cum-promoter Jah Hanief K Sadiq’s welcome party featuring wheel spinner Dee Nosh, Taf Miles, Trae Yung, Sadiq and Maxy, among others.

Inner Café, Harare

The joint, situated at the corner of Nelson Mandela Avenue and Mbuya Nehanda in the capital, tomorrow hosts Festive Ignition featuring Dobba Don, I Ratty, Icey Rebel, Shocca with wheel spinners Spin, Natman Sweet Candy, Simboy, Bhudda Yutes, Kongo and MC Kangaroo among others

Legends Sports Diner, Marondera

Dancehall artiste Sniper Storm tonight will be out to prove that he is a serious contender in the genre as he entertains revellers at Legends Sports Diner in Marondera.

Jabula Inn in Esigodini, Bulawayo Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu and his Dendera Kings will this weekend by missed by their Harare fans as they take their People’s Awards celebrations to Bulawayo tomorrow with a performance at Jabula Inn in Esigodini, Bulawayo.
