Of the six applicants, the Judicial Service Commission will have to select only three, whose names will be submitted for consideration, to constitute a pool of judges that will make up the tribunal.

In a statement, the JSC listed the applicants as justices Francis Bere, Martin Makonese, Priscilla Munangati Manongwa, Happias Zhou and lawyers Arthur Manase and Charles Maunga.

“On November 5, the Judicial Service Commission invited expressions of interest by suitably qualified persons for consideration for the appointment of the pool of judges for the Sadc Administrative Tribunal. Six applications were received. From these, three nominees will be submitted for consideration to constitute a pool of judges of the Tribunal,” part of the Press release reads.

Regional leaders in 2014 adopted a new protocol to reconstitute the tribunal, but with a diminished mandate.

The Sadc summit, which was held in the Zimbabwean resort of Victoria Falls, paved way for the revival of the tribunal, which was disbanded three years ago.
