Tu Short is back home after 12 years to promote his latest four-track album titled Maiwe which is said to be making waves in UK and Nigeria.

UNITED Kingdom-based Zimbabwean contemporary gospel musician, Tu Short born Lamont Chitepo is back home after 12 years to promote his latest four-track album titled Maiwe which is said to be making waves in UK and Nigeria.

The Oliver Mtukudzi and American singer R Kelly-inspired musician said the album, Maiwe, was influenced and inspired by a combination of love and happiness as well as current events in his life.

“My music is receiving relatively good response on both radio stations and online platforms. I am back to promote my latest offering Maiwe which I featured a Nigerian artiste known as Kin,” Tu Short said.

“The album has received relatively good response on social media and is being used as skit on an online comedy show.”

Songs on the album are Maiwe, Ndikadai, Handimbotyi and Get the Money.

The pint-sized Tu Short tomorrow stages his first welcome gig at Sphinx Oasis Cresta Hotel along Nelson Mandela Avenue in the capital, supported by local artistes, among them Automan, Xpatriot, Nina Grande, ExQ, C Bryan and Lorraine.

Tu Short launched his music career in 1998, with a hip-hop group called Definition of Perfection.He later converted to Christianity and in 2012 started recording gospel songs such as Walk With You among others that was on his second 10-track album Invisible.

In the UK, Tu Short has shared the stage with big stars such as British comedian/actor Richard Blackwood.

He released his debut seven-track album titled Ndiwe in the UK in 2010 with songs like Terera and Ndiwe being well received that he was nominated for the Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television, Arts and Sports Awards which celebrate black and ethnic personalities in showbiz.
