Masvingo United edged closer to a return to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after they clobbered Melfort to climb to the summit of the table at the weekend.

Yuna Yuna won their match 4-0, with their rivals for the sole ticket to the top-flight, Mutare City Rovers and Hartley Academy, playing out a draw.
With Buffaloes having been relegated, Mutare City Rovers now carry the city’s hopes for a team in the elite league.
But with one match to go, City Rovers are now trailing the log leaders by one point ahead of the final round of matches set for the weekend.
Masvingo have accumulated 67 points from 33 matches, while City Rovers have 66 with Hartley a point less.
Masvingo have their destiny in their hands, as they need to against Mutoko Traders in Mutoko this weekend.

Masvingo United manager, Phillip Shumba was ecstatic at the team’s position and is optimistic they will complete the job at the weekend.
“We are happy with the team and their position on the league table. We are just enjoying our football, the players are enjoying their football,” he said.
Shumba, who has been working to source funds for the team, urged the football community in Masvingo to support the team ahead of the final hurdle.
“Masvingo is a football-loving community, so l am urging them to come together and support their team in Mutoko this weekend,” he said.
Mutare City will end the season with an away match against Ruwa Gunners, while Hartley take on ZRP Masvingo at home.
