MULTIPLE award-winning South African songbird Bulelwa Mkutukana –popularly known as Zahara – is set to stage a concert at Harare International Conference Centre on December 5, NewsDay has learnt.

Zahara seems to have fallen in love with Zimbabwe as this will be her second show in Harare following a sold-out gig she held in March at the same venue.

Sources privy to the development told NewsDay that if everything goes according to plan, the Loliwe singer will share the stage with Afro-fusion group Mokoomba and Jah Prayzah.

“Negotiations are underway by a local promoter to lure Zahara for a performance at Harare International Conference Centre on December 5,” said the source.

From the information gathered by NewsDay, the organisers of the concert are said to have been requested by fans to bring Zahara back after her last successful show.

During her first show in Harare, Zahara expressed her love for the country. In 2013 she was in the country and went on to launch her second album, Phendula, at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale.

Her music has received glowing reviews in Zimbabwe. She has shared the stage with an array of local artistes including superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Dereck Mpofu, Willis Wataffi, Cynthia Mare, Sandra Ndebele, Diana Samkange, Jah Prayzah, Tocky Vibes, Pah Chihera and Tariro neGitare.

Zahara, who started singing in her school’s choir when she was six years old, released her debut album Loliwe in 2011. The album went platinum in 13 days and double platinum after 17 days, selling over 100 000 copies in South Africa alone.

The following year she won eight awards, including Best Female Artiste and Album of the Year at the annual South African Music Awards.

She is currently riding high with her 13-track third album titled Country Girl, which tackles issues of self-discovery, jealousy, love, players and the evils of money.
