United States-based Zimbabwean golfer Scott Vincent will make his first appearance on the Sunshine Tour since turning professional when he tees off in the fourth edition of the R1,3 million Lion of Africa Cape Town Open at Royal Cape Golf Club starting tomorrow.

According to the list of final entries confirmed by the Sunshine Tour, Vincent is one of five players to receive invitations for the tournament together with former South African amateurs Hennie du Plessis, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Thriston Lawrence and Matthew Kent.
Vincent’s last participation in a Sunshine Tour event was last year when he claimed amateur honours at the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open after finishing in a tie for 24th on six-under-par 282.
The 23-year-old golfer will be eager to make a good impression in South Africa after an impressive start to his professional golf career in the US.
Vincent recently became the first Zimbabwean golfer to win on the Swing Thought Tour, a developmental circuit renowned for preparing upcoming professional golfers for life on the US PGA and Web.com Tours.
The victory at the Callaway Gardens Mountain View Tournament was Vincent’s fifth win since turning professional in June having won the Econet Pro Challenge on his pro debut in addition win a further three titles on the Carolina Mountain Pro Tour.

His participation in South Africa this week brings the number of Zimbabweans in the Lion of Africa Cape Town Open to five including Ryan Cairns, Mark Williams, Mohammad Mandhu, Greg Bentley and Gary Thompson.
Cairns, the highest-ranked Zimbabwean in the field, will be hoping to maintain his good form after finishing in a tie for 15th position at last week’s Vodacom Origins of Golf Final played at the Zebula Golf Estate and Spa.
The Lion of Africa Cape Town field is packed with young talent from South Africa and headlined by six-time European Tour winner Richard Sterne, who returns to local shores after competing in the United States.
European Tour stars Hennie Otto and Garth Mulroy will also line up in the star-studded tournament, which promises to be a spectacle in Cape Town.
Otto is a two-time winner of the Italian Open and was victorious at the 2011 South African Open Championship, while Mulroy topped the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit that year after lifting the Alfred Dunhill Championship trophy.
