Nkosi, who performed with seasoned and well-travelled Imbube group Mpumelelo Shining Stars, did wonders with her sharp voice which captivated the audience.

She variegated her voice leading the audience to believe that there were many artistes performing.

The highly-promising and talented artiste was launching her album titled Usuthokozile.

Nkosi, proved to many that traditional Imbube was still alive as a genre. The way she performed rekindled memories among the audience resulted in some calling for her to hold more performances and rope in other women to revive Imbube.

Jeys-Marabini

Musician Jeys Marabini, who was the guest of honour, applauded Nkosi for her performance saying she had done something that is out of this world by reviving a genre which defines the people of Matabeleland region and beyond.

“Everyone, who is here should respect Nkosi for the good performance and courage to revive a genre that people thought had died. Look at what she did. Everyone present can tell this was a powerful performance,” he said.

He also urged the Bulawayo community to support their own artistes as there is abundant talent in the city which people are not following.

“We have a lot of artistes in the city, we are actually the hub of arts as we do almost everything from music, theatre and sculpture, among other forms of art. I urge everyone to make sure that whenever there is a function they come and support our acts, make sure that you get the best entertainment which is at your doorsteps,” he said.
