The 1-hour 16-minute-long drama, which made waves during the days it was shown on ZBC-TV, will be released on DVD.

Kazani told NewsDay that lack of funding was a major drawback in his endeavour to come up with new productions.

“I realised that the drama (Sperire) was a favourite of many as a number of people have been enquiring about it, but could not get it as ZBC denied us the rights and as a result we decided to reshoot for our fans to have it on DVD,” Kazani said.

“In such a case ZBC must make our productions available to our fans and in the process we would share the proceeds.”

Sperire has a cast of 12 including veteran actress Edina Shaisano, who once featured on Kusasana Kunoparira, and Sibongile Chiroodza.

Kazani, who launched his career in 1992, said he is promoting his productions through performing in different communities and schools with his Kwauyiwa Arts Production.

“With the state of economy in our country, we are only into it (acting) because of passion,” he said.

Kazani said despite all the trials, he would not throw in the towel, but soldier on for better fortunes.

He thanked veteran producer Dorothy Chidzawo for her unwavering support and for helping him to break through in local drama circles.

Kazani has written and featured in several productions that include NdiGringo Chete, Zuku, where he acted as Hoza, Vana Avo, where played the role of Boss, Togara Sei as Mukoma Kenny, Nyarai as Baba Peace, Nzudana Kenny and Akanga Nyimo Avangarara in a career spanning over two decades.

Two years ago, he turned a new leaf in his career by releasing his debut six-track album Haana Kufanira which is a fusion of pansula and traditional music.
