The Soccer Star of the Year and his first and second runners up were also selected but their identity will only be revealed on Friday at a banquet.

Castle Lager Soccer Stars of the Year finalists

Danny Phiri, Elvis Chipezeze, Edmore Chirambadare, Clemence Matawu (Chicken Inn), Ocean Mushure, Tatenda Mukuruva (Dynamos), Brian Muzondiwa (FC Platinum), Stephen Makatuka (Caps United), Knox Mtizwa (Highlanders), Raphael Manuvire (ZPC Kariba)

  1. Well done to Chicken Inn. I have some reservations with the ambivalence these journalist treat my team Dynamos. It’s a tale of two sides really.
    1. In a year when Dynamos does not playe very well and cannot provide a “soccer star”, my team has to be rewarded somehow and have a representative player on the calendar.
    2. I a year when Dynamos plays extremely well and deserves to provide even 4 players to the stars’ chart, they are trimmed to only one or two, so as not to show favor to the soccer giant. Pasuwa was denied the Coach of the Year gong because of these attitudes.

What I want as a supporter is fairness. And I would like to applaud you for the way you selected those two DeMbare players. I think you made a good judgement. And “thanks” again for including those players from CAPS and Bosso. Even in a very bad year these two teams, just like Dynamos, have to have a “star” on the list. But one wonders where it shone during the league games.

  2. How can Dynamos that is 3rd placed on the log have 2 players among the soccers and yet FC Platinum that are runners up and played so well have only one finalist? Mukuruva doesnt deserve to be on the list esp with the atrocious goalkeeping he exhibited against the SA under 23! Otherwise to Chicken Inn for having provided the bulk of the players and to the deserving other finalists!

    • @Jubilee. You have asked and answered yourself. Dynamos is second, hence the two finalists. You should rather be asking why CAPS and Bosso have finalists on the calendar.
