Zimsec confirmed in a statement yesterday that there have been some isolated leaks of examination papers in the country, but assured the nation that the situation was under control.

“Isolated incidents of further examination-related misconduct have been timeously identified within Chitungwiza, Glen View 1 and Budiriro localities. A number of candidates and individuals implicated have been apprehended by the police and are expected to appear before the courts,” Zimsec said.

“Charges being preferred against such individuals relate to the possession of material that appears to be related to the ongoing examinations.”

The examinations body said everything was under control and its examinations remained credible through the early detection mechanisms they had put in place.

“Zimsec endeavours to assure valued candidates that their hard work will be rewarded as those who wish to unduly benefit from deceitfulness are and will continue to be identified and weeded out,” it said.

“The level of distribution of the material under reference has been isolated and no adverse impact on ongoing examinations is expected. Fears by the public over potential subject re-takes are, accordingly, allayed.”
