A HARARE woman, Priscah Lyson, yesterday approached the civil court seeking a protection order against her co-tenant, Maria Alfonso, whom she accused of being in the habit of exposing her amorous affairs to her lovers’ wives.

In her submissions before magistrate Ruth Kamangira, Alfonso said she was living in fear of losing her life, as Lyson had threatened to kill her.
But in her defence, Lyson dismissed Alfonso’s claims, arguing that instead, the latter was the aggressor, as she always poked her nose into her private life.
Lyson told the court that the pair’s problems started after Alfonso picked a habit of going behind her back and reporting to her boyfriends’ wives each time she saw the lovers at her place.
“I am a single woman and at times I invite boyfriends over to my room, and whenever Alfonso sees them, she runs to tell their wives,” Lyson said. “She even has the wives’ cell phone numbers, whom she informs and they come and attack me.”
After listening to the duo’s submissions, the magistrate granted the protection order in favour of Alfonso and ordered Lyson not to threaten or insult her.

The magistrate also warned the duo against taking their issues pertaining to their love lives to court.
“Some of these silly issues should not be brought to court. We don’t want to hear about your boyfriends,” the magistrate said.
