Juul’s bid was initially blocked by the electoral committee who wanted the businessman to clarify matters on his residency and citizenship status as required by the Zifa constitution article 32 for presidential candidates.

His party, led by election agent Stanley Makombe, earlier this week resubmitted the nomination papers and the electoral committee yesterday cleared the former Zifa president to stand in the election.

Former Warriors player Edzai Kasinauyo, who also had hiccups with his papers for the board member post, was also cleared by the committee.

“The committee meticulously went through the papers and is comfortably satisfied that the named candidates qualify to run for the positions they have selected. All the positions are, therefore, contested and hence there shall be elections for all the vacant positions,” read the statement by the Zifa electoral committee.

Makombe said he was excited by the development and believe Juul will win the election.

“We are very excited, like we had indicated before that his papers were in order, but some people had tried to put spanners in the works and raising dust so that Juul could possibly lose focus. I want to let the fans, the sponsors and all our stakeholders know that he is a level-headed man who runs a multi-million dollar industry across Africa so those petty issues, surely, will not distract him.

“He is excited about this development and he believes he will romp to victory by a landslide. There has been a lot of anticipation especially from the electorate and the fans who have been sending him words of encouragement, and on his behalf I would like to thank them all for standing by him,” Makombe said.

Below is the final list of successful candidates released by the Zifa electoral committee.
