The 25-member choir is expected to sing at the renowned Hill Song Church in Cape Town on Saturday before wrapping up their tour with another concert in Pretoria on Christmas Day.

In between concerts, the choir spokesperson, Tendai Zhou told NewsDay they will have the gospel music seminar.

Gospel artistes, Sharon Manyonganise and the Nhai Mwariwe hit maker, Wencilus Makungisa, will be part of the entourage.

Zhou said they were excited at their South African debut, as their following in that country was on the rise.

“Being our first time in South Africa, we are really excited to be performing there. We have noticed that we have a huge following in South Africa, especially through our social media platforms and we are thrilled to unite the two nations [Zimbabwe and South Africa] through worship for God’s glory,” he said.

Zhou said their hit song, Sungano, was a particular favourite for many in the region and was on the list of songs they were going to perform.

“The choir’s song titled Sungano will get gospel music lovers begging for more, as it has been on the top radio gospel charts even in South Africa since it was released,” he said.

Zhou said plans were underway for the choir to perform in Johannesburg and Durban — cities that are considered gospel music hubs in South Africa — in the near future.

The tour was organised by the Zimpraise board, led by the group chief executive officer, Joseph Madziyire, in partnership with a number of churches in South Africa.
