Mairosi pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before magistrate Shelly Zvenyika.
The court heard on August 18 this year, Mairosi was driving a truck along Kirkman Road in Dzivarasekwa Extension when he lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.
According to State papers, when Mairosi got to a point opposite Chesa Bottle Store, he failed to stop his car, as he approached two parked vehicles, where the now-deceased, Fanuell Rusere, was standing and hit him in the process.
Asked at what speed he was travelling, Mairosi said he was not sure as his motor vehicle did not have a functional speedometer.
“I admit that I may have been travelling at a high speed because the car did not have a functioning speedometer,” Mairosi said.
Prosecutor Varaidzo Huni submitted that Mairosi’s driving was negligent, because despite his truck having a trailer, he still drove at an excessive speed.

The court also heard that the point of impact was close to a bottle store, a reason why Mairosi had to be extra cautious when he approached.
