PSL regulations state that “players may be registered only during one of two periods per year, which periods will be fixed”, with “the first registration period (being) between July 1 and August 31” and “the second registration period (during) the month of January.”

However, it goes on to indicate that “only the following categories of players may be registered by a club outside of the registration periods.”

The categories include “a player who was not under contract with any club at the time that the previous registration period closed and has not entered into a new contract since that date”, “a player who has been declared a free agent” or “an amateur player who has a clearance certificate.”

The Siya Crew did some digging and discovered that Mahachi was actually a free agent as he was released from his contract with the Brazilians before transfer deadline day, meaning his move to Arrows is in fact a permanent rather than a loan move.

“Many people didn’t know, but when the team didn’t register him for this season they also released him and made him a free agent. So when Arrows discovered this, they went for him. From the look of things, it’s not a loan, but again it’s a tricky situation. But he has joined Arrows as a free agent that’s why the move happened after the registration window closed,” a Siya Crew source said.

Yesterday, the Siya Crew revealed that Mahachi has not been registered with the PSL by Arrows and the papers to begin his registration had not yet been submitted.
