Chinoperekwei was speaking to NewsDay ahead of a debut joint concert he is organising with Patson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions to bring in Jamaican dancehall reggae artiste Busy Signal for a maiden performance in Zimbabwe on October 24 at Glamis Stadium, Harare.

“The growth of the local entertainment sector requires unity among both the promoters and artistes themselves. As promoters, we are leading by example having united with Chipaz to bring Busy Signal from Jamaica,” Chinoperekwei said.

“I have been in the industry for years the same with Chipaz, but we had never organised a joint concert and this Busy Signal show is just the beginning of a new life on the promoters’ side which must also be embraced by our local artistes.”

Chinoperekwei said the coming of local musicians has contributed a lot to the growth of local showbiz with both the nation and artistes benefiting.

“The biggest beneficiaries from these international acts are the artistes themselves as they get the opportunity to exchange notes and some have done collaborations with these celebrated foreign artistes. Look at Pee Kay, he featured Busy Signal on the song Show Me Love,” he said. The coming of the One More Night hitmaker would certainly bring smiles to many of his local fans who had eagerly waited for his performance after several attempts by some local promoters to bring the musician failed.

The musician has already confirmed the concert through various social media platforms and a video drop has also been released to confirm the concert unlike last year when he was forced to deny allegations as social media was awash with reports that he would make his maiden performance in Zimbabwe.

Born Glendale Goshia Gordon, Busy Signal will bring his 12-member band for the much-awaited concert where he will share the stage with an array of local chanters among them Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Dadza D, Killer T and Seh Calaz while Templeman and Gary B, Dj Cables, Judgment Yard Sounds and Smiley will be rocking it on the turntables.

After the Zimbabwe concert, Busy Signal will head to Malawi for a performance on October 31 at the Sand Festival.

Busy Signal is known as one of the artistes leading the contemporary dancehall movement in his country. He is well known for hits such as Step Out, Nah Go a Jail Again, Smoke Some High Grade, Tic Toc and Unknown Number.
