Chipanga views the 10-track album as his best to date and said the launch was meant to make fans appreciate their presentation.

“It (the launch) will be an opportunity for fans to see our stage presentation. We have a different way of dishing out live performances, especially on the gospel arena. Expect something different from the way other gospel artistes perform live,” Chipanga said.

Chipanga, who leads Charlenam Rhythm, said the launch would be graced by gospel artistes from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Malawi and Zambia.

Chipanga did a duet with Charles Charamba on one of the songs Ndezva Mwari, featured on the new album.

Chipanga, who used to play marimba for Oliver Mtukudzi while his wife was a backing vocalist, says he will start live performances next year.

He classifies his music as ethnic jazz because of its unique sound through the use of marimba, rattles and saxophones, making it more popular in foreign lands than in Zimbabwe.

“Foreigners like the marimba and rattles which we fuse with Western instruments, that is why our music is popular outside Zimbabwe. The song Kutenda, an acapella piece, has hit top charts in Germany,” he said.

Chipanga wrote all the songs on the album. The song, Mututu, is doing well on the Star FM gospel charts show, while Ruregerero is topping the charts on Power FM.

Charamba described Chipanga as a focused musician.

“Chipanga has a great musical ear and is privileged to possess musical assessment ability, something he started to exhibit since the early days of his youth,” he said.

Charamba said Chipanga has also carved his own niche by defining his own sound whose main component is the soprano marimba. “I like its degree of sincerity and the reality of its message,” he said.
