As some rightly point out, a precedent was set when a national blitz was conducted and some people who held high positions in Zanu PF found themselves politically scalded and irrelevant to the party which they had religiously served since their youth. So this time around who is the target?

It is undeniable that factionalism is decimating Zanu PF. The fact that the private media is being threatened for reporting it as it is clearly shows all is not well in the ruling party.

Reported utterances of belittling of war veterans at rallies is foreign to Zanu PF. But now it is fashionable. The late Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Vitalis Zvinavashe is remembered for his infamous declaration a few days before 2002 Presidential elections when he declared that it was impossible for somebody who did not have war credentials to be President.

It seems that has changed now. The G40 has practically hijacked the party. This group of educated Young Turks does not know which side of the gun fires, but they seem to know where the centre of power is. Their presence at almost all of the First Lady’s rallies is testimony of their political ascendancy.

Surprisingly Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko is always at these rallies and the opposite is true for Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Does this mean he has become a victim of his party’s internal struggles? Is he being relegated to a lame duck?

Love her or loathe her, Grace seems to be the person of the moment in Zanu PF.

As Grace’s political star rises, divisions have become the order of the day in Zanu PF. The private media is under siege with threats of “action” for writing about factions in the ruling party. It’s dog-eat-dog in Zanu PF.

With Zanu PF pressing the self-destruction button by engaging in endless factional wars, ordinary people continue to suffer.

What is of importance is for the people to understand that we can only have peace by voting Zanu PF out of power.
