AIR NAMIBIA is set to launch two additional flights per week on the Windhoek-Harare route by the end of this month.

BY BUSINESS REPORTER

In a statement yesterday, the airline said the additional flights would only operate during the last week of October 2015 and the month of November 2015, in addition to the regular four flights per week.

This will mean that Air Namibia will have six flights per week.

“Air Namibia is pleased to announce that we will be launching two additional flights per week on the Windhoek-Harare route. The two additional flights per week will be ‘non-stop’ and will be operated using the Embraer ERJ 135 aircraft offering 37 seats in an all economy class seat configuration,” it said.

“We would like to further advise that these two flights offer a convenient and seamless connection or transfer of passengers travelling between Cape Town and Harare at Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport.”

Air Namibia resumed flights to Zimbabwe in 2012, having abandoned the route for nearly 13 years. It is wholly owned by the Namibian government and is a member of both the International Air Transport Association and the African Airlines Association.

The increase in the flights is a major plus for Zimbabwe as a destination. This comes at a time government has made concerted efforts to make the destination accessible.
