In a bizarre case of sexual abuse, a 19-year-old Kwekwe woman, Terence Tambudzai Gonde, left in the custody of a 10-year-old girl, offered the minor to her boyfriend who raped her in her presence, while she watched and giggled.

Simbarashe Chadiwa (25) was last month slapped with a 20-year jail term for raping the girl by a Kwekwe regional magistrate and has since approached the High Court seeking bail pending appeal against both conviction and sentence.
Gonde, however, who was Chadiwa’s co-accused, failed to finalise the matter and was sent to a mental institution after suffering mental health challenges in the middle of trial.
The court heard that, sometime in March this year, the girl’s mother left her daughter in Gonde’s custody, as she went to Botswana on business.
On the initial occasion, the court heard, Chadiwa and his friend, whose details were not provided in court papers, visited Gonde’s place of residence in Mbizo, Kwekwe in the evening.
When the two arrived, Gonde prepared supper for them and Chadiwa’s friend left, leaving the two love birds with the girl.
Later Gonde spread blankets for the minor to sleep and when the girl had covered herself, she instructed Chadiwa to get inside the girl’s blankets and have sexual intercourse with her, the court heard.

Chadiwa is said to have complied with Gonde’s instructions, forced his way into the blankets, undressed the minor and raped her once, while Gonde watched and laughed as the minor screamed for help.
As if that was not enough, on another day during the same month, Chadiwa again visited Gonde’s place of residence and the latter asked him to rape the minor again and he complied, as she again watched and giggled.
However, the matter came to light when the girl’s mother returned from Botswana and noticed that her daughter had some difficulties in walking. She asked her and the girl spilled the beans leading to the duo’s arrest.
Chadiwa will serve an effective 18 years in jail after two years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
