Jamaican reggae star Konshens tomorrow headlines the Castle Lager Summer Celebration

Jamaican reggae star Konshens, born Garfield Delano Spence, tomorrow headlines the Castle Lager Summer Celebration to be held in conjunction with Musica 2015 and co-organised by the Italian Embassy and Delta Beverages at Old Georgians Sports Club, Harare.

At the gig, the Gal Dem A Talk singer will share the stage with South African award-winning band Beatenberg, talented drummer Marco Maggiore from Italy, Mozambican saxophonist and composer Ivan Mazuze, local dancehall chanter Winky D, Evicted and mbira princess Hope Masike, while South African wheel spinner Dino Moran will be rocking the turntables.

The potentially explosive Tuku and Friends concert which is part of the ongoing Harare International Carnival is on tonight at Glamis Stadium featuring sungura ace Alick Macheso, Sulu Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Peter Moyo and Dr Zobha.

Tomorrow it’s Carnival Street Party with a procession from Civic Grounds to Africa Unity Square. On the same day, Chipaz Promotions host the Car Spin at LongCheng Plaza located in Belvedere. In the evening it’s the big one at Harare International Carnival after-party featuring Jamaican dancehall reggae artiste Busy Signal supported by Soul Jah Love, Jah Prayzah, Killer T and Seh Calaz.

Harare International Conference Centre

Zimpraise Choir, an interdenominational praise and worship group, hosts a potentially explosive two-day gospel festival starting tonight under the theme It’s All About Jesus at Harare International Conference Centre.

The official opening programme of the festival which is free of charge is dubbed Choir Festival and Legends Night will see several gospel choirs and some pioneers of gospel music among them Machanic Manyeruke, Prince Mafukidze, Pastor G and Pastor Lawrence Haisa performing as a way of honouring them for their contribution to the growth of the genre.

The festival enters its second and final day tomorrow with a jam-packed programme that will provide the Zimpraise Kids Choir with the platform to showcase their talent and rising gospel artistes among them Mathias Mhere, Mudiwa Hood Mutandwa, Sebastian Magacha and Minister Michael Mahendere.

The main choir will record their Season 8 live DVD featuring superstar Oliver Mtukudzi. Zimpraise chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire will launch his book Young Boy, Lead at the same venue.

7 Arts Theatre

Several local filmmakers and actors will be honoured tonight for their contribution to the growth of the sector after the four-member group made up of Rufaro Kaseke, Patience Gombe, Stuart Moyo and Munyaradzi Dodo partnered with the Zimbabwe International Film and Festival Trust to introduce the inaugural Zimbabwe Film and Television Awards to be held at 7 Arts Theatre, Avondale, Harare. The curtain will come down tomorrow at this year’s edition of ZIFF that roared into life on October 3.

Red Fox Hotel

Jamaican reggae-dancehall chanter Mr Melody will lead an array of local chanters tomorrow as he performs at the Red Fox Carnival Street Party in Harare as part of the ongoing Harare International Carnival. He will share the stage with local artistes among them Guspy Warrior, Terminator, Ninja Lipsy and Nutty O.

Pariah State, Avondale

Pariah State, Avondale, tomorrow hosts award-winning urban groover Alexio “Goodchild” Gwenzi’s birthday bash supported by Trevor Dongo, Stunner, Roki, Taurai Mandebvu, Nesto, Mudiwa Hood, Xtra Large, Leornard Mapfumo and Diana Samkange.

Pamberi Trust Garden

Sistaz Open Mic is on tomorrow at Pamberi Trust Garden organised by Pamberi Trust under its Female Literary Arts and Music Enterprises (Flame) project which helps female musicians, dancers and poets in carving their niche in the arts sector. The Sisters Open Mic project was initiated in 2007 supported by the Culture Fund and to date has helped boost talented musicians including Tariro NeGitare, Edith WeUtonga, Eve Kawadza and many more.

Wedza 2

Sungura King Alick Macheso takes to Glen Norah this Sunday for a show at Wedza 2. The musician looks to have mastered the art of keeping his fans guessing as to when his long-awaited album will be released and keeps dropping bits and pieces at live performances. Fans will this weekend sample some of the new stuff at a show where he will be supported by Pengaudzoke frontman Faheem Somanje.

Inner Cafe

Rising Afro-Jazz musician David Hondoyedzomba and his Black Ways Band tonight entertain revellers at the Inner Cafe joint in Harare.

Chinotimba Stadium, Victoria Falls

Sungura ace Sulumani Chimbetu, fresh from his Australian tour, tonight performs at Chinotimba Stadium in the resort town of Victoria Falls. Tomorrow he takes his act to Bulawayo with a performance at Club Royal. He returns to Harare on Sunday with a performance at Club Las Vegas supported by Jah Prayzah . Club Forty, Bulawayo

Magnito and The Freaky Barbies and Barbie Dolls tonight entertain patrons at Club Forty in Bulawayo. Tomorrow the venue hosts Supreme Sat featuring wheel spinner DJ Phibz backed by Mzoe, Theo, Teflon, Binnola and Binnole.

Metropolis Pub and Grill, Bulawayo

The venue tonight hosts Ladies’ Night featuring the hosts MaTing Ting and DJ Sweto. Tomorrow it is the Clubbers Delite Reloaded featuring wheel spinners Phibz, Djz Sweeto, Phibz, Stones and Quinn

Xtrm Sports Bar, Bulawayo

Tonight Xtrm Sports Bar in Bulawayo hosts Jaiva Express Dance Group. Tomorrow it’s Beauty Queens dance group and B2B while DJs Sweeto, Phibz and Stones will be rocking it on the turntables.
