Plans are under way to have the novel, written by George Orwell and published in England in 1945, translated into Shona, Ndebele, Tonga, Nambya, Yoruba and Swahili.
“The Shona version is complete and I am now starting the Tonga and Ndebele versions and I will do Nambya next year,” said the 2009 Guardian Award first prize winner.
Although she could not give finer details on the exact timeline, she said the project was on course.
Gappa, a University of Cambridge law graduate, is currently basking in the glory of her recently published novel, Book of Memory.
