GOSPEL musician Togarepi Chivaviro will hold more concerts nationwide, after his first show held two weeks ago failed to raise enough money to finance the construction of Israel Secondary School in rural Gokwe.

The South African-based musician who is currently riding high with the hit song Ebenzer-Tiri Munyasha, a collaboration he did with a number of local musicians, only raised $1 000 from the debut show.
The Gokwe project requires about $20 000 to complete.
“There weren’t much people there [at the concert]. However some pledged and the pledges can be valued around $600. We still have a lot of work to do, but it shall be done,” he said.
The learning institution is being constructed on a 40 ha piece of land and the project was approved by government through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Chivaviro, who is the leader of Assemblies of Pentecostal Methodists, said he will also use funds from his church as well as sales from his latest album for the project.

“We are working well with the community who are supporting us with labour and natural building materials. The nearest secondary schools in the area are 7,5km, and 8km away.
“The girl child is the one mostly affected, thereby getting into early marriage for provision purposes because of the distances. We have to build that school for the benefit of our children,” he said.
