WADDILOVE High school teacher Patrick Nyahwo, who leads the four-man band Chimbichehorwe Express, has released his third album, Ari Mandiri Mukuru.

Nyahwo told NewsDay that the 10-track album, which is rich in lyrical content and well-arranged instrumentation, reflects his spiritual growth as a Christian.

“The album Ari Mandiri Mukuru is an attempt to motivate people to embrace Christ, as the alpha and omega, the answer to societal problems. The album expresses how I am now shifting to pure gospel music that is premised on a unique sound from a combination of guitars and keyboard,” he said.

Songs on the album, recorded by Norman Dendere at Revival Studios and produced and mixed by Forward Mazurutse are Ndoda Kutenda Amai, Ari Mandiri Mukuru, Pindirai, Havakusiye Wega, Sakunatsa Sakubaiwa, Mundirangarire, Chawaita Chii, Ukatadza Kufunga, Mweya Wegodo and Vanouturunura

Nyahwo said the title track, Ari Mandiri Mukuru, is an acknowledgement that Jesus transforms people for the better.

“The song speaks about people receiving Jesus as their personal Saviour and their lives become changed. They are born again, but society continues to remind them of their past,” he said.

Nyahwo said Pindirai is a gospel song, which is an appeal that God should intervene in West African countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia that are riddled by Ebola and Palestine, where innocent people continue to lose lives and Nigeria, where Boko Haram continues to destabilise the country and kidnap children.

Nyahwo, who is inspired by Charles Charamba, said he has no problems balancing work and his musical projects, as he records during the holidays.

“Monday to Friday I will be at work and it’s business as usual. During the weekends and during my spare time is when I do much of the song writing,” he said.

The teacher said his next project will be a pure gospel album

“On our forthcoming album we are going to change the name of the band to Gospel Gold, showing how determined I am to pray, preach, and praise the Lord. I should also reflect that in songs. The beat will not change but will be improved,” he said.

Albums under Nyahwo’s belt, who launched his career in 1996 while singing in church, are Ziva Zvawafambira released in 2005 and Zvinorema Kuna Ishe recorded in 2013.
