THE Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) yesterday said it had cast a net along Mukuvisi River to trap a crocodile, which was been sighted over the past two weeks at a crossing place between Houghton Park and Parktown in Waterfalls, Harare.

ZimParks spokesperson Caroline Washaya-Moyo said efforts to trap the rogue crocodile were being hampered by pollution of the river. “It is the same crocodile that (Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader Walter) Magaya complained about sometime ago and what has been happening is that it has become sensitive to noise and keeps changing locations,” Washaya-Moyo said.
“We have been going there to monitor it, but locating it when it is in the water is extremely difficult. We have to move swiftly and cage it so that we can move it from there.”
She refuted reports that several crocodiles had been shot and killed at the same spot. The lone crocodile is believed to have migrated from Lake Chivero and moved upstream in search of food.
