AFTER last weekend’s blip, Zifa Northern Region Division One log leaders Ngezi Platinum returned to their winning ways with a 2-1 win over Mushowani Stars on Saturday as they edged closer to the title.

Ngezi were beaten 1-0 by Gunners last weekend, their first defeat in 23 matches and appeared to be heading for their second loss in seven days when Mushowani’s Idilisa Kaponda gave his side a first half lead.
But the leaders rallied back in the second half through an own goal by Arthur Mafulisa gifted them an equaliser before striker Terence Dzukamanja ensured maximum points late in the match.
With the win, the Clifton Kadurira coached side moved to 58 points, 16 clear of second placed Gunners, who play Blue Swallows tomorrow.
Ngezi Platinum will win the title, whose big prize is Premiership promotion, if they win five of their remaining nine matches. They could wrap up the title even much earlier if nearest rival Gunners drop points in their remaining matches.
