OPPOSITION MDC youths have launched a campaign to force the recall of their party’s legislator Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga from Parliament accusing her of dumping her constituency, fomenting divisions and selling out to the newly-formed People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing journalists in the capital yesterday, MDC youth chair, Gideon Mandaza said the opposition party’s youth wing had also resolved to repossess all vehicles used by former party officials.
“The youth assembly has subsequently resolved that we will be making a recommendation to the leadership of the party to have her (Misihairabwi-Mushonga) expelled from the party,” Mandaza said.
“We are so convinced and we have the information at hand and we are fully aware of what is happening and we have reached a conclusion that we cannot have someone who doesn’t speak on our behalf, who doesn’t share the same interests with us, values and principles as a member of the party,” he said.
He said that if party leader Welshman Ncube turns down their request, they will employ other means to bar her from attending Parliament.
“Some of these things might require us to take action and if it means that there is need for us to bar her from entering Parliament so be it, but, however, knowing the kind of rot that she has caused in the party we don’t envisage a situation where leaders of the party will still entertain her.”

The youths accused Misihairabwi-Mushonga of working in cahoots with Tendai Biti’s PDP to destabilise the MDC. They also accused her of rushing to seal the United Movement for Democratic Change coalition deal without the consent of other party members.
However, PDP spokesperson Jacob Mafume denied the allegations yesterday.
“Nothing can be further from the truth. We know Misihairabwi-Mushonga as a loyal member of her party and its most vocal member in Parliament. If they have issues with her they should discuss it in-house and not drag other parties into it,” he said.
“It is not new for parties to have issues with their members and as a party that has been around for quite some time, I am sure they can handle this without turning the situation into a Nigerian movie.”
Misihairabwi-Mushonga could not be reached for comment.
