Although Chiedza’s family has been tight-lipped over the circumstances surrounding Chiedza’s death, speculation has been rife that the 15-year-old daughter of the late music legends Andy Brown and Chiwoniso Maraire committed suicide.

The concert — which follows an appeal for funds by the family — is meant to raise money for expatriation of Chiedza’s body and will be held at the Alliance Française in Harare. The show will kick off at 7 o’clock and entrance fee is pegged at $10.

The organisers have called upon Andy Brown and Chiwoniso’s fans to come in their numbers to support the cause.

A funeral service for Chiedza was held on September 19, 2015 at Midway Baptist Church under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Centre.

Chiedza-Brown

Chiedza’s sister, Ammara, has expressed sorrow at the loss of her sibling, whom she described as “a young mbira queen” and “an angelic soul”.

“No laugh can replace hers, and her sweet voice is still echoing in my head. I will remember her for her true innocence, and her warm spirit. I will miss my mbira partner, but most of all I will miss my baby sister,” she was quoted saying.
