The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League defending champions ruthlessly put their opponents to the sword at, giving coach Tonderai Ndiraya the response he had demanded following the weekend’s defeat to FC Platinum.

By the 26th minute, the Harare giants had raced to a 4-0 lead, but it could have been more.

Returning left-back Ocean Mushure opened the floodgates as early as the 11th minute, before Ronald Chitiyo, Takesure Chinyama added their names on the scoresheet.

Gift Kwaramba’s own goal increased Dynamos’ goal tally after Nelson Mazivisa had reduced the deficit just after the hour mark. Godknows Murwira sealed the big win with a spectacular free kick in the 36th minute.

The win took Dynamos’ points tally to 42, seven behind log leaders Chicken Inn with the two teams set to meet next week in a potential title decider. Seven games remain in the season.

Ndiraya was obviously happy with the team’s performance and thinks they still have a good chance to retain the title crown.

“It’s a very good result, our game plan worked. I was quite impressed by our first half display, but not the second half. We created a lot of chances and we could have gone to the break leading by at least 10 goals. In the second half, I think complacency got into the boys and the substitutes we brought in didn’t put up the fight we expected. We will keep on pushing and see where we will be at the end of the season,” Ndiraya said.

WhaWha, with this defeat, remain in the relegation zone and are quickly running out of games. Their coach, Lloyd Mutasa, is, however, hopeful that his team will escape the dreaded chop.

“The youngsters gave the match away in the first 20 minutes and we could not recover. We have put ourselves in a tight corner and now we have to try and make up for this defeat in the remaining matches,” the former Dynamos coach said.

Following their 3-1 loss to second-placed FC Platinum at the weekend, Dynamos needed a strong response to remain in contention for the title and that is what they did, in style too.
