The gaffe scaled new heights when it was subtly incorporated into hilarious outfit Zambezi News’ performance that poked fun at the 91-year-old strongman.

The group feasted on the embarrassing incident during their live performance.

When they appeared on stage, Sam “Cde Fatso” Munro opened the session by reading a prepared speech welcoming the audience.

“Welcome to Shoko Festival 2014,” he said before one of the comical news presenters, Mandape Mandape, alerted him that he was reading last year’s speech, much to the delight of the audience.

In their trademark rib-cracking style, the crew ridiculed the mushrooming of political formations in the country, including former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s People First.

The Zambezi News crew performed during the comedy session that also saw South African comedian Tol Ass Mo sharing jokes that courted peals of laughter from the audience.

The veteran comedian recited jokes that highlighted South African ghetto life.

Shoko Festival 2015, an initiative of Magamba Network, is supported by its main partners Embassy of Sweden, Danida, the European Union and Culture Fund as well as premium sponsors British Council and Free Press Unlimited

The fiesta is Zimbabwe’s fastest growing international festival and has become the country’s biggest urban culture fest.

This year’s theme Hear Your City is a call to Harare’s festival-goers to enjoy the many voices and sounds that reverberate in the city.
