Other contenders to the crown, Bulawayo Chiefs’ chase encountered further stumbling blocks, after they lost 0-1 to ZPC Hwange.

The Philani “Beefy” Ncube coached City opened a nine-point lead on Saturday with 55 points and three wins and a draw can take their tally to 65 while the best their rivals can attain is 64.

Casmyn also on 43 points and sitting on position four beat Ntabazinduna Prison 1-0 at Turk Mine on Saturday.

Bulawayo City was promoted to the second tier league only last season and can complete an amazing run if they win promotion this term.

But it will not be easy, as they face hard-to-beat new boys Casmyn in their next game before another tough assignment with Black Boots who were handed three points without kicking a ball from expelled Old Nic Mine.
