Multichoice Zimbabwe said they had been impressed by the overwhelming response from local artistes who submitted their music videos ahead of the launch of a new transcontinental programme.

Speaking to NewsDay ahead of the launch of the programme that will be broadcast at 7pm every Saturday, Multichoice Zimbabwe publicist Elizabeth Dziva said they were expecting the inflow of videos to increase.

“Zimbabwean artistes seem to be embracing The Zim Top Ten programme very well as witnessed from the number of videos we received and activities on different social media like twitter where they are conversing about the programme,” Dziva said.

The Zim Top Ten is a countdown programme of 10 local videos and is part of the channel’s commitment to support the local music industry. Dziva urged more artistes to send their works so they could penetrate Southern African markets.

She said artistes whose productions would have been screened were guaranteed their royalties and urged them to register with royalty collection bodies such as the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (Samro) and RISA in South Africa.

Zambezi Magic channel was launched by DStv last month for Southern African viewers and is sourcing content from Africa, particularly regional countries.
