Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident, saying investigations to smoke out the culprit were underway.

“I can confirm we received a case of infanticide at MSU on September 27 at around 6am,” he said. “A dead infant was discovered by a security officer at the university’s main campus wrapped in a pair of jeans and floating in a sewage pond.”

The foetus was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital for post-mortem.
