The 22-year-old player recently became the first Zimbabwean golfer to win on the Swing Thought Tour, a developmental circuit renowned for preparing upcoming professional golfers for life on the US PGA and Web.com Tours.

Vincent defeated American Jonathan Fly in a play-off at the Callaway Gardens Mountain View Tournament in Pine Mountain, Georgia, two weeks ago.

And after a difficult start in the pro ranks, the former St John’s College and Virginia Tech University star says he feels his game is going in the right direction.

“It’s been much better of late,” Vincent told NewsDay Sport from his base in Blacksburg, Virginia.

“There are so many great players on these small tours in the US and only a few manage to make it to the next level. It’s been a great learning experience so far and I feel a lot more confident as to who I am as a player and a person. I know I still have a long way to go but am moving forward in a good direction,” said Vincent, whose younger brother Kieran is the top junior golfer in the country at the moment.

The victory at the Callaway Gardens Mountain View Tournament was Vincent’s fifth win since turning professional in June. He won the Econet Pro Challenge on his pro debut at Royal Harare Golf Club in June and has gone on to win a further three titles on the Carolina Mountain Pro Tour, the premier one-day tour in South Carolina.

After featuring predominantly on the Swing Thought Tour, Vincent will be hoping to make the next step in his career by qualifying for next season’s Web.com Tour, which is the main pathway for players hoping to earn playing privileges on the US PGA Tour.

The Web.com Tour Qualifying-School first stage competitions will be held across 11 sites in the US next month with five second stage competitions following in November before finals slated for December 10-15 in Palm Beach, Florida.

The top 45 finishers after the conclusion of the finals will earn full exemption for at least the first third of the 2016 Web.com Tour schedule.
