Show organisers Xtratime Entertainment spokesperson Tonderai Mwaita confirmed the show, saying Kansiime would be supported by the cream of local comedians, Carl Joshua Ncube and Doc Vikela.

“The show is in November and we have chosen Kansiime since she is regarded as the Queen of comedy in Africa and has more than one million [Facebook] followers, so we thought that she might be an attractive prospect for [local] comedy lovers,” Mwaita said.

Kansiime has confirmed the trip in a video message to her Zimbabwean fans.

“Now the excitement I am feeling . . . I want you to just imagine, if you are still waiting for me to come to Zimbabwe, how do you think me I am feeling? I am so excited I can’t wait for November 14,” she said.

Kansiime promised her Zimbabwe fans a show to remember.

Doc Vikela said he was relishing the prospect of sharing the stage with a comedian of Kansiime’s calibre.

“It is the greatest feeling ever, a reality check too, it is on platforms like these that we must prove our worth,” he said.

“I’m super-excited about the gig. As for the preparation, it’s a process and I’m getting ready.”

The 27-year-old comedian, who is a member of Uganda’s top comedy group, called Fun Factory, does her comedy skits in Swahili language and in English.

She is East Africa’s most recognised comedian, and has videos that have attracted over 100 000 hits on YouTube and are widely circulated on social media platforms.
