Old Nic Mine were supposed to play Bantu Rovers tomorrow, but the game has been cancelled and they were due to receive their letter of expulsion yesterday.

A source close to the ongoings at the regional league said all teams that were due to play Old Nic Mine would be awarded three points.

“They (Old Nic Mine) have challenges and have failed to fulfil about four fixtures and their match against Bantu Rovers has been cancelled. Zifa will today [yesterday] write to inform them that they have been expelled from the league,” the source said.

Zifa Southern Region chairman Musa Mandaza confirmed the position yesterday, but said they would first inform Old Nic Mine before giving details to the media.

Bantu Rovers, who were docked three points during the week for using a suspended player, will tomorrow get maximum points without kicking a ball.

Rovers could have moved to third position on 37 points, but slipped to fourth after three points were docked for fielding an ineligible player.

Old Nic Mine struggled to fulfil fixtures last season and were relegated, only to bounce back after New West City did not affiliate for the 2015 season.

Tomorrow, Bulawayo City, 12 points away from claiming the championship with 49 points from 21 games, host Technosphere at Luveve Stadium while Bulawayo Chiefs, on 42 points, entertain struggling Mpumalanga in Fairbridge.

Third-placed Casmyn, on 36 points, are also home to Black Boots at Turk Mine.
