PRETORIA — University of Pretoria have confirmed that Zimbabwean goalkeeper Washington Arubi has agreed to a new three-year contract at the club.
Arubi’s previous deal was in its final year.
“He has signed a new three-year deal,” confirmed Sammy Troughton, the AmaTuks coach.
Arubi has been the first choice keeper at Tuks since joining the club in 2012, and has played 98 of the 101 games they have contested since his arrival in their debut season in the topflight.
He now holds the club record for most PSL appearances.
Meanwhile, Tuks have rescinded their decision to transfer-list Junior Sibande, with the former South African Under-20 international now back in contention at the club.
Sibande was put in the shop window with Sifiso Nzimande, Siphelele Luthuli, Dikgang Ngcobo, Siyabonga Shoyisa and Alan Robertson, who have already left the club.
Troughton says they have now decided to keep the 22-year-old, who featured in the club’s last league match against Chippa United.

“We have decided to overturn the earlier decision to send him and he is now in contention for a place in the team. So we are keeping him for now and he is fighting for a place in the team just like every other player,” says Troughton.
Sibande started just five games last season. — online
