“It was an intensive and highly rewarding experience which shall help me in the long term aspects of my career,” she said.

Tariro, who also unveiled plans to release her second album on her 30th birthday due next month, said the album titled Chipo Changu, was produced by Steve Dyer and supported by Tuku Music.

“I’m so excited about this project and hope it will be well received. I think as a woman, I face the general challenges that women face regardless of whether I am in the arts, or in mining, or agriculture,” she said.

“Our problems are generally the same. In the arts, however, I feel the main challenge is our inability as women to reduce the gap that exists between the successful male artistes and female artistes.”

She said there was a lot of room to occupy the mass market if women worked together because without such collaborations, they would remain sidelined.

“I hope that in my lifetime I will be able to address this challenge somehow,” the artiste said.

She said the situation presented a great opportunity for female artistes to learn from their male counterparts.

“It has been such a joy as they have been amazingly supportive. I also think that the fact that I grew up in a male-dominated household with three elder brothers, makes this pretty normal to me. The support keeps me going,” she said.

The songbird, who is also studying for Masters’ Degree in Development with Women’s University, said she personally promoted most of her shows and expressed gratitude for her manager Christine Gumunyu whom she said had strong networks and industry knowledge.
