Several artistes are expected to participate in various artistic disciplines during the festival, according to organiser Ronald Badza.

Badza told NewsDay that the festival will also feature artistes from the United States. He said: “The festival is running for the first time in Marondera and it’s the only arts festival working with the title Pfumvudza, meaning a time of new beginning, regeneration, and celebration of our diverse culture.”

He said they were working in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and the Ministry of Arts, Sports and Culture to ensure the festival’s success.

An organisation of classic musicians called Cultures in Harmony, which fosters arts promotion and cultural understanding and exchange through organised tours, arrived in the country yesterday to participate in the festivities.

“There will be a variety of activities from cultural dances, presentations and performances from local groups. The idea came with a passion to promote art as a means of sustainable livelihood due to the increased level of unemployment and seeing talented youths around and seeing how others have made a living through art,” Badza said.

The event is a platform created by Revival Arts Trust, a registered organisation aimed at promoting arts and culture activities based in Marondera.
