His remarks follow a message circulating on social media that Davido was no longer heading for Zimbabwe, where his show had been slated for Belgravia Sports Club in Harare.

“There are some Zimbabweans who do not want to see something good happening within our showbiz and we do not really know their intentions as we are even shocked. If Davido cancels the show I will be the first one to know and tell our fans since I am communicating with him frequently. I talked to him on Sunday and he told me he had a good show in Mali and said he was preparing for the Zimbabwean show,” Chimbodza said.

According to the message, Davido had reportedly cancelled the Zimbabwe show as it was set to clash with his joint tour with Trac Swag in Canada and the United States.

“Davido will be performing with Lousso, Cxvypher, Brendon Lee in Toronto, Dallas and NYC, so we hope to shift Zim show dates to October month end,” read the WhatsApp message in part.

The Davido show is being organised by Chipaz Promotions in conjunction with Jacaranda Culture.

According to show organisers the Skelewu hit maker will arrive in the country on August 28 with a live band and a welcome party has been scheduled for the same evening at Club 1+1 at Longcheng Plaza Mall in Harare.

Meanwhile, Chimbodza said they have deferred the selling of the show tickets to avoid what happened when fake tickets were sold ahead of Jamaican dancehall artiste Charly Black’s show at Long Cheng recently.

At the show Davido will be supported by an array of local artistes, among them Trevor Dongo, dancehall chanter Trevor D, Soul Africa and Roki, while wheel spinners DJ Stavo, Ashy Styles and Gary B will take turns to entertain revellers rocking it on the decks.
