The re-organisation is meant to align costs to revenue generation and mitigating against continued financial losses, according to an internal memo by group human resources director Elijah Nyakurerwa and seen by NewsDay.

“In the ongoing pursuit of aligning costs to revenue generation and militating against continued financial losses, the board has authorised the management of African Sun Limited to implement further management structure changes,” Nyakurerwa said.

African Sun has dismissed nine of its managers namely John Mwanza — group operations director, Mluleki Mangena — supply chain manager, Francis Muswere – group technical services manager, Mevis Geddes — marketing manager, Fadzai Ndudzo — senior auditor, Morlin Rusike — systems support manager, Levy Mutandazuru — internal auditor, Julia Sithole — central reservations and revenue manager; and Colletta Tapfumaneyi — payroll manager.

Operations executive Tichaona Hwingwiri has been reassigned to the role of general manager, Holiday Inn Harare. He will also have direct oversight of Holiday Inn Bulawayo and Amber Hotel Mutare effective August 10 2015.

Group executive chef Leonard Moyo has been appointed executive chef at Crowne Plaza Monomotapa effective August 10.

National sales manager Maxwell Moyo was reassigned to the role of sales manager for Holiday Inn Harare and Bulawayo as well as Amber Hotel Mutare, based at Holiday Inn Harare effective August 12. Moyo will also be in charge of central reservations office and the marketing portfolios until further notice, the hospitality group said.

Personal assistant for human resources and operations Lorraine Chidziva has been appointed banqueting co-ordinator at Holiday Inn Harare effective August 10, 2015.

African Sun said all operations oversight functions and all casino functions would now reside in the office of acting group chief executive officer Edwin Shangwa.

The group abolished the group chef post at central office saying it would now reside at the strategic business units. It said the supply chain or business process function would reside in the office of the acting group finance director.

Rudo Nhongo was assigned to be in charge of the group’s Payroll function and Venon Musimbe takes care of transport co-ordination.

The hospitality concern said the overall sales and marketing oversight function would reside in Shangwa’s office.
