“It was a tough match and they really came hard on us in the second half but we are happy we did not concede a goal.

“We don’t want to speak about the championship because we will put ourselves under unnecessary pressure,” he said.

His counterpart Kelvin Kaindu rued missed chances saying it was not their day.

“We failed to score as a team. We had many chances and I believe we were just unlucky because, just look at how many times we hit the post,” he said.

Both teams threw some punches in the opening half with goalkeepers at both ends called into action.

The visitors took the lead in the 23th minute through Brian Muzondiwa who poked home Tatenda Dzumbunu cross to send the home side’s few fans into frenzy.

Out of form Pasca Manhanga saw his cross pushed for a corner kick by Mhari in the 34th minute after receiving a fine cross from Hillary Bakacheza.

Triangle fans were jerked off their seats in the 41th minute after Praise Tonha’s free-kick just outside the opposition box crashed against the upright post.

Triangle started the second half on fire and just two minutes after the breather Cabby Kamhapa had a chance to level terms but he ballooned his shot, over the bar with the visitors’ defence off guard.

The ineffective home side striker Bakacheza was substituted for Zambian international Antony Sakala but the substitution failed to pay dividends.

Triangle failed to maximise on a goal mouth scramble in the 67th minute with Manhanga in a good position to equalise for his side but he miscued his shot.

FC Platinum defended with their lives during the last 15 minutes of the match as they secured another important win.
