Harare City showed from the start they meant business with Martin Vengesai testing Takabva Mwaya in goals for the home side.
Vengesayi again came back to trouble ghost Chipangano with his trickery, but he could not hit the target.
Hwange’s first attempt on goal came in the 24th minute, but Talent Chamboko shot tamely failing to trouble Tafadzwa Dube in goals for City.
The visitors took control of the second half exhibiting a good passing game that mesmerized their opponents.
But the home side could have opened the scoring in the 61th minute; Sibelo’s free kick found an unaware Munyaradzi Mungadze who skied the effort over Dube’s goal.
Hwange’s free kick specialist Sibelo created a glorious chance off a set-piece which resulted in Boriwondo hitting the post.

Hwange’s assistant coach Chenjerai Dube praised the tactical discipline of his side in the crucial victory.
“We knew they were going to fizzle out as the game went on, that is why we effected substitutions which would press them for a goal. The boys played according to instruction,” said Dube.
Harare City mentor Taurai Mangwiro said he thought his team deserved to win the match.
“I would like to point out that this game was well handle (by the official), and a lapse in concentration resulted in our loss.
“Otherwise we played so well and deserved to win, I give credit to Hwange,” said Mangwiro.
