Hwange continue their bid to steer clear of the relegation dogfight when they host Harare City in a Castle Lager Premier league match at the Colliery tomorrow.

They beat log leaders Chicken Inn 1-0 at Luveve Stadium to complete a double over the GameCocks whom they edged by the same score line at the Colliery in May.

The coal-miners are on position nine on the log table with 25 points from 20 matches after getting their fifth win of the season, but are only seven points away from ZPC Kariba, Flame Lily, Tsholotsho, Buffaloes and WhaWha, who are all on 18 points.

A win tomorrow will put them in a better place and are at par with Chapungu who are home at Ascot Stadium against Caps United.

Hwange coach Nation Dube yesterday said they will be aiming to take maximum points.

“We are going to take each game like any other game but we want positive results. We are playing against a better side, well-motivated with good players and ours is just banking on our fighting spirit,” Dube said.

The scorer of the solitary goal against Chicken Inn last Saturday, anchorman Collen Muleya is out suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.

Hwange have Newman Sianchali, Gilbert Zulu, Tafara Chese, Aleck Marime and Creven Banda to rely on against the Sunshine City Boys.

Harare City have not lost in the last nine matches with four wins and five draws, with their last defeat on May 23 when they 1-2 to Buffaloes at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.

They are on position five on the log standings with 31 points from 20 matches and coach Taurai Mangwiro is confident they will come out unscathed at the Colliery.

“If only we can convert those draws to wins then we will be a formidable side in a stronger position. I have been monitoring Hwange. They have had an indifferent season but they have two wins in the last outings against WhaWha and Chicken Inn but I think we have what it takes to salvage something from the Colliery,” Mangwiro.

Harare City will be without injured skipper David Kutyauripo.

Tendai Samanja and Hebron Makukutu are also out injured while Crispen Dickson is serving suspension.
