The residents took to the streets alleging the city council had failed to properly account for development funds which were supposed to be loaned to residents under Zambuko Trust.

The 10 who are represented by Martin Mureri of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights were expected to appear in court anytime on Wednesday.

Before their arrest, the 10 marched from Chitima Musika area to Civic Centre to submit a petition to Masvingo Town Clerk Adolf Gusha.

However, the procession was cut short by hordes of police officials who intercepted them and bundled them in their vehicles before taking them to Masvingo Police station.
